Knox Co. man charged after Humvee crash killed wife, friend
VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) - A southwestern Indiana man has been charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated causing death after a military Humvee he was driving crashed into the Wabash River in February.
Indiana State Police said Monday that Knox County prosecutors filed the charges against 34-year-old Kyle Mason of Oaktown.
His wife, 33-year-old Breezie Mason, and 32-year-old Meaghan Meeks of Oaktown, drowned after the Feb. 4 crash. Divers found their bodies after they pulled the vehicle from the river.
Police say Mason and front-seat passenger 33-year-old Cody Meeks got out of the vehicle and swam to an embankment. Their wives were in the back seat.
Police say Mason had a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit when he drove into the river.
Online court records didn't list an attorney for Mason.
