Oilers trade forward Patrick Maroon to Devils

The Edmonton Oilers have traded forward Patrick Maroon to the New Jersey Devils for a 2019 third-round pick and prospect J.D. Dudek.

Maroon, 29, has 14 goals and 16 assists in 57 games this season. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Maroon had a career season in 2016-17 with 27 goals and 15 assists. The Devils are in position for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 72 points.

Maroon entered the NHL as a sixth-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2007. He played for the Anaheim Ducks from 2012-2016 before being traded to Edmonton in February 2016.
