Foul play believed to be involved in woman's disappearance

ROYAL LAKE, Ill. (AP) - Law enforcement officials say they believe foul play is involved in the disappearance of an Illinois woman who's been missing nearly three weeks.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis said Tuesday that their conclusion in the case of 37-year-old Denita Hedden of Royal Lake is based on evidence recovered during the squad's investigation. They said in a news release that they have identified a person of interest in connection with the case but didn't identify the person or any connection to Hedden.

Hedden was last seen in Royal Lake on Jan. 25. Searches for her have covered large portions of southern Macoupin County.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact police.
