Central Indiana school cancels classes because of flu

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana school has canceled classes for the rest of the week because of a flu outbreak.

Liberty Christian School in Anderson says it's cancelling middle and high school classes Thursday and Friday because about half of teachers and one in five students are sick. The school's website says it has 524 students and 80 staff members.

School Superintendent Dr. Jay McCurry says in a message to parents and guardians that pre-K through 6th grade classes will remain on a normal school schedule.

The weekly Indiana flu report from the Indiana State Department of Health listed three other school-wide flu outbreaks as of Feb. 9.
