Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?Taxpayers are the priority. Many families and Seniors are moving away because of high property taxes. We need to freeze tax levies at all levels. Lake County needs to be the leader and get this initiative started.Regardless of whether this is a current problem, what can the board do to reduce harassment, especially sexual harassment against women, in the county or forest district offices? If there have been complaints of harassment, have they been investigated properly? Are new policies needed?Candidate did not respond. The county board sets salaries for its members, as well as the countywide elected officials. Do you believe these various salaries are at the right level now? Are raises or pay cuts needed?Salaries and spending needs to be cut. We are in a fiscal emergency with Lake County property tax bills. The County Board needs to lead the way in cutting spending by cutting back their own salaries and fringes. We need to cut Board Member mailings at taxpayer expense. Many of these are done right before election cycles start. The forest district still has a lot of undeveloped preserves. Name one such preserve you'd like to see get amenities, and tell me what you'd like to see built there.Wrong question. We bought more land than we were prepared to service for the public. The referendums of ten to fifteen years ago would not pass in today's economy. The money and dollars borrowed at taxpayer expense in the past are continuing to be spent. How many dog parks do we really need? What is your position on government consolidation? Are there areas of government in Lake County that strike you as prime candidates for such consideration? We have more taxing bodies than California despite only having 1/3rd the population. School districts, sanitary boards, high cost Fire districts, and Township operations need to be consolidated or eliminated. The Recorder of Deeds should have been eliminated years ago and made a Department in the County Clerks Office. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? We still have double dipping Board Members that have other Township or Government positions. The double dipping has to stop. County Board positions are part time, and the salaries are excessive. We need to return to a citizen representation that is about Community and not self. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Ronald ReaganWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?If you see something that needs to be done, just do it.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have hung on to old friends instead of letting them drift away. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Mathematics. I always liked working with numbers either in school or on the job. I'm definitely a numbers guy.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Always do the right thing.
