Man guilty of sex assault on 2 girls, faces life in prison

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) - A Tennessee man is facing life in prison after a jury in suburban Chicago found him guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls he knew.

A Kane County jury on Wednesday convicted 37-year-old Timothy M. Arnold of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, on eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Prosecutors say the former resident of Aurora, Illinois, sexually assaulted the girls, who were younger than 12, between 2011 and 2017. They say the assaults occurred in Aurora.

Under Illinois law, Arnold faces a mandatory sentence of natural life in prison because he's convicted of assaulting multiple children.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon says he's "impressed with the strength and courage both young girls showed in facing this defendant."
