Ashland ties Division II record for consecutive wins

ASHLAND, Ohio (AP) - Defending NCAA Division II champion Ashland won its 57th straight game with a 111-46 victory over Tiffin on Saturday to tie the longest D-II basketball winning streak regardless of gender.

Top-ranked Ashland tied the record set by the Winona State men from Jan. 13, 2006-March 22, 2007. The Eagles play at Wayne State (14-4, 9-3) on Thursday for a chance at the all-time mark.

Ashland broke the women's basketball record with its 52nd consecutive win on Jan. 6, surpassing Washburn University (Topeka, Kansas) in 2005-06.

Senior Andi Daugherty scored a season-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting against Tiffin to become the third player in program history to score at least 1,750 career points (1,758).

Laina Snyder and Jodi Johnson are each averaging 19 points per game for Ashland (20-0), which scored 100-plus for the 11th time this season and 22nd during the streak. The Eagles have won at least their first 20 games in each of the last three seasons.
