West Virginia's Tynice Martin to miss season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia guard Tynice Martin won't play this season while recovering from a foot injury.

Mountaineers coach Mike Carey made the announcement Tuesday.

The junior underwent surgery in August on her foot that was injured at the USA Basketball Under 23 national team trials. Carey says Martin underwent another surgery recently and will take a redshirt season for 2017-18. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Martin was named an honorable mention All-American last season after averaging 18.6 points per game.

No. 20 West Virginia (16-4, 4-4 Big 12) hosts Texas Tech on Wednesday.
