Charles scores 16, No. 14 Maryland women beat Indiana 74-70

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Kaila Charles scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half, Kristen Confroy added 15 points and No. 14 Maryland beat Indiana 74-70 on Tuesday night.

Charles made a shot off the glass to give Maryland a 73-70 lead with 41 seconds left. Stephanie Jones blocked a shot at the other end and Eleanna Christinaki made 1 of 2 free throws for a four-point lead with 10.7 seconds remaining.

Indiana's Amanda Cahill and Tyra Buss each missed a 3-pointer on the final possession of the game.

Jones had 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Maryland (16-3, 5-1 Big Ten). Channise Lewis added 12 points with six assists. Charles was just 1 for 7 from the field in the first half and finished 8 of 15. Confroy made three 3-pointers in the first quarter to move to second on Maryland's 3-point list.

Maryland lost its second-leading scorer Blair Watson for the season last week with a torn right ACL.

Cahill and Jaelynn Penn each scored 18 points for Indiana (8-12, 1-6). Buss added 14 with eight assists and Bendu Yeaney had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana was 12 of 25 from 3-point range but was just 2 of 6 in the fourth quarter.
