Concept cars from Japan automakers offer glimpse into future
DETROIT (AP) - Nissan, Infiniti and Lexus are all unveiling new concept cars at the Detroit auto show.
Concepts are used to test ideas and see how show visitors react.
This year's concepts differ, but they all have serene interiors with real wood and minimal distractions. Infiniti design director Karim Habib designers are reacting to all the visual stimulation in the world.
Infiniti says its Q Inspiration sedan has a shorter hood and a larger passenger cabin because of new technology that allows for a smaller engine.
Lexus's LF-1 Limitless shows what would happen if the brand made a flagship crossover SUV.
And the Nissan XMotion (pronounced cross motion) is square and blocky, with all-terrain tires and a retractable rooftop cargo box.
The auto show opens to the public Saturday.
