81-year-old man killed in northeastern Indiana shooting

JONESBORO, Ind. (AP) - Police say an 81-year-old man was killed and a 51-year-old man wounded during a shooting at a home in a small northeastern Indiana town.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called about 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the home in Jonesboro by a woman who said her son had been shot.

The department says Larry Pavey was found shot multiple times, while Gene Thompson was fatally wounded and died on the way to a hospital. Pavey was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment.

The department didn't immediately release information about what led up to the shooting in the 2,000-person town near Marion, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Fort Wayne. Investigators were searched for two people believed to be driving a pickup truck.
