Frigid weather forecast for New Year's Eve across Illinois

CHICAGO (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued wind chill warnings and advisories across Illinois this New Year's Eve.

Wind chill warnings are set for parts of northern and central Illinois on Sunday, with forecast wind chills of between -20 to -35 Sunday night into New Year's Day and Tuesday morning. Weather service forecasters say actual air temperatures are expected to fall to -15 degrees on Sunday and Monday nights in parts of central Illinois.

Wind chill advisories were set Sunday afternoon in the Chicago area and parts of central and southern Illinois. In Chicago the National Weather Service forecast the New Year's Eve temperature at midnight to be -2 with a -19 wind chill. The weather service advised avoiding prolonged time outdoors and dressing in layers.
