Gedaka scores 24, No. 18 Villanova women top Friars 63-55

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Mary Gedaka had a career-high 24 points off the bench on 11-of-12 shooting and No. 18 Villanova bounced back from its first loss of the season, using a late 10-0 run to defeat Providence 63-55 on Saturday.

Gedaka had a 3-point play and the first five points in the winning surge, which included a clutch 3-pointer by Adrianna Hahn, that put the Wildcats (11-1, 1-1 Big East) ahead 61-51 with 39.9 seconds to play. The scoring drought for Providence reached 4:29 before a layup with 29 seconds left.

Jovana Nogic hit her average of 18 points in the first half, going 7 of 10 with four 3-pointers, as the Friars (7-7, 0-2) took a 31-25 lead. Making six of its last eight shots, Providence shot 60 percent in the second quarter and 46 percent for the half while Villanova finished at 32 percent.

Down 10 early in the third quarter, Villanova used an 11-1 fueled by Alex Louin's 3-pointer and 3-point play, to get back in the game.

Louin finished with 14 points and Hahn 11.

Nogic had 26 points for Providence, her sixth 20-point game of the season.
