STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Teaira McCowan scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to help No. 5 Mississippi State beat No. 9 Oregon 90-79 on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-7 McCowan was nearly unstoppable, making 15 of 18 shots from the field. She scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds before halftime and continued to dominate during the second half, scoring after offensive rebounds and off well-timed passes.

She blocked five shots, and 12 of her 19 rebounds were on the offensive end.

Mississippi State (10-0) also got a steallar performance from Victoria Vivians, who scored 30 points, including 26 in the second half. She shot 10 of 15 from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range.

Oregon (8-2) was led by Ruthy Hebard, who had 25 points and seven rebounds. The Ducks lost despite shooting 55 percent from the field.

No. 6 BAYLOR 95, MCNEESE STATE 34

WACO, Texas (AP) - Kristy Wallace scored 20 points and Baylor opened on a 27-3 run to rout McNeese State.

Kalani Brown had 17 points and 16 rebounds, and Didi Richards added 11 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double with the Lady Bears (9-1), who were playing their first game in eight days.

Natalie Chou scored 17 points, and Moon Ursin pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds.

McNeese State (4-5) shot 18 percent (11 of 61) and didn't make its first 2-point field goal until the 6:53 mark of the second quarter.

No. 8 TEXAS 68, NORTHWESTERN STATE 44

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Ariel Atkins had 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals in only 21 minutes as Texas beat Northwestern State.

The senior guard made all six of her shots from the field for the Longhorns (8-1). Jatarie White added 15 points in 19 minutes, and Jada Underwood had 11 points.

Freshman Jha'ne Wheeler led Northwestern State (4-5) with a season-best 15 points.

Texas played without injured guard Brooke McCarty, the reigning Big 12 player of the year and the Longhorns' second-leading scorer behind Atkins. McCarty's status is day to day.

No. 17 OREGON STATE 84, SAVANNAH STATE 36

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Mikayla Pivec scored 19 points, Marie Gulich had 18 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, and Oregon State used a 26-5 second quarter to beat Savannah State.

Joanna Grymek added 16 points for Oregon State (7-2), which had the third-highest attendance (8,280) in program history. Kat Tudor scored all 11 of her points in the first half.

Gulich had 12 points and eight rebounds in the first 20 minutes to help Oregon State build a 45-14 halftime lead.

Kaylee Allen led Savannah State (2-6) with 16 points.
