Kyra Lambert to redshirt for No. 14 Duke after ACL tear

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke guard Kyra Lambert says she will redshirt this season after tearing a knee ligament during the NCAA Tournament.

Lambert announced her decision Tuesday, saying she will resume playing in 2018-19 as a redshirt junior.

She started the first 33 games of her sophomore season in 2016-17 before tearing her left anterior cruciate ligament in a first-round victory over Hampton. The Blue Devils were eliminated by Oregon two days later.

She says her knee hasn't yet healed enough to "get me at the level that I was playing at, and I don't want to come back anything less than 100 percent."

No. 14 Duke plays host to UNC Greensboro on Thursday night.
