Carter scores freshman record; No. 19 Texas A&M women win

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Chennedy Carter scored a Texas A&M freshman record 30 points, Danni Williams added 14 points in her homecoming game, and the No. 19 Aggies cruised by Texas Tech 90-56 on Sunday.

Texas A&M scored the opening 10 points, extended it to 26-3 and the Aggies led by 29 points at the end of the first quarter. It was a program record for points in a quarter (34) for the Aggies. Texas Tech reached double figures on Brittany Brewer's basket with 5:45 left in the opening half and trailed 49-17 at halftime.

Williams, whose hometown of Clovis, New Mexico, is just 100 miles from of Lubbock, had 32 points in last season's 98-90 overtime victory over Texas Tech. She was just 5-of-13 shooting in 32 minutes on Sunday.

Jasmine Lumpkin had 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Texas A&M (4-1). Anriel Howard scored 16 points and Carter was 12 of 18 from the field.

Brewer led Texas Tech (3-2) with 12 points and seven rebounds.
