2 plead guilty to bringing teens to Iowa for prostitution

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Two people have pleaded guilty to bringing two Chicago teenagers to Iowa to work as prostitutes.

Court records say Waterloo residents Lawrence Campbell Jr. and his wife, Sade Campbell, entered the pleas in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids to sex trafficking of children. A sentencing date hasn't been set.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the Campbells met the two 16-year-old girls on a social media site and offered to take care of them. The girls were sent bus tickets, and the two arrived in August 2016 to stay with the Campbells.

The records say the girls weren't allowed to keep the money they were paid for sex and eventually were caught shoplifting.
