Medical device supplier plans Fort Wayne expansion

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A company that makes precision wire and cables for the medical device industry is planning a $51 million expansion of its Fort Wayne facilities.

Fort Wayne Metals said Wednesday its project would include an addition to its corporate office building and renovation of a factory building it recently bought. Both facilities are near Fort Wayne International Airport.

The company says construction is expected to start this year and that the expansion could lead to it adding up to 330 jobs over the next four years. Fort Wayne Metals says it now has more than 800 full-time workers in Fort Wayne and Columbia City.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says it offered the company up to $3.5 million in conditional tax credits and training grants for the expansion.
