Austin Peay comes back to beat Tennessee State 21-17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Ahmaad Tanner capped the go-ahead scoring drive on a 2-yard TD run with 1:26 left and Austin Peay spoiled Tennessee State's homecoming weekend 21-17 on Saturday night.

Kyran Moore's 35-yard punt return set up the Governors at the Tennessee State 49 with 2:41 to go. Austin Peay converted a first down with its first three run plays and then Jeremiah Oatsvall took an option keeper 34 yards to set up Tanner, who went in nearly untouched off the right tackle on the next play.

The Governors (4-3, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference) led 14-3 early in the third quarter, but the Tigers (4-3, 1-3) rallied. Patrick Smith's 2-yard TD pass pulled Tennessee State to 14-10 with 2:31 left in the third and the Tigers took the lead on Michael Hughes 66-yard pass to DeVon Johnson.

Oatsvall finished with 85 yards passing and 82 yards rushing for Austin Peay.
