Crews work on Lake County museum before planned 2017 opening

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - The final phase of work at Lake County museum has begun.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that the Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County is projected to open at the end of the year.

Crews have converted offices to exhibit space at a former preserve headquarters in Libertyville.

The museum, formerly called the Lake County Discovery Museum, was located in Wauconda for four decades. Officials closed it about a year ago to focus on the renovation and move.

Andrew Osborne is the district's director of educational facilities and says there'll be more about Lake County's history and story at the new museum. There'll also be classroom space for educators and programs.

The building's budget is about $1.6 million.
