After crashing car into pond, teens nabbed buying clothes
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - Two suburban Chicago teens who allegedly crashed a stolen car into a pond were arrested while using a stolen credit card to buy dry clothes.
The Lake County sheriff's office say on Sept. 7, they found a stolen vehicle in a pond at a Port Barrington home. Later that morning, Crystal Lake police were called to investigate two suspicious people in a store.
Authorities say 18-year-old Bradley J. Tieman of Round Lake Beach and an underage teen stole another vehicle to drive to Walmart. They entered the store in wet clothes and were in a restroom changing into dry clothes when arrested.
Tieman was charged in McHenry and Lake Counties with possession of a stolen vehicle, identity theft, and theft. He is being held in the McHenry County Jail.
The underage teen is charged as a juvenile with burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, and theft.
