Suburban Chicago man charged with killing ex-girlfriend, son

STONE PARK, Ill. (AP) - Police say a west-suburban Chicago man faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and 4-year-old son.

Authorities say 32-year-old Daniel Barraza of Melrose Park was charged after police arrested him Saturday night when he returned to the Stone Park home where 31-year-old Marian Cruze Hurtado and Corbin Dallas Barraza were found dead Thursday night.

The Cook County medical examiner's office said autopsies Saturday found that the boy died of multiple stab wounds and the woman died from multiple injuries from an assault. Both deaths were ruled homicides.

Stone Park police say the deaths appear to have happened during "an isolated domestic violence incident."

Barraza is to appear Monday in bond court. He didn't have a listed phone number in Melrose Park to request comment.
