First-ever meeting: UAlbany to play at Syracuse in 2021

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Syracuse and the University at Albany are finally going to meet in football.

The upstate New York schools will open the 2021 season in the Carrier Dome, the schools announced Tuesday. It will be the first meeting between the Great Danes of the Football Championship Subdivision and the Orange of the Atlantic Coast Conference, who play at college football's top level.

A date for the game, which will be played in the Carrier Dome, has not been set.

The Great Danes have opened with an FBS opponent each of the past three seasons, including at Old Dominion this season.

UAlbany beat an FBS school for the first time last year, a 22-16 victory over Buffalo.

The Great Danes have hosted the Orange once in men's basketball.
