Hornets bring back popular 'classic uniform' design

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Hornets have announced they're bringing back the uniform design worn by the original Charlotte Hornets from their inception in 1988 through 1997 for three games this season.

The uniform will have "Charlotte" across the front of the teal jersey and includes the familiar crossover v-neck and mutli-colored pinstripes in royal blue, light blue, purple and green.

The Hornets will wear the classic edition uniforms for home games against Cleveland (Nov. 15), Milwaukee (Dec. 23) and Oklahoma City (Jan. 13).

Hornets official Pete Guelli said Wednesday the team had been planning the return of the classic uniform since the Hornets name returned to Charlotte. He says he move "is completely fan driven."

The Hornets will feature five different uniforms in their 2017-18 collection. Like the white Association and teal Icon editions released earlier this year, the uniform features the logo of Nike's Jordan Brand.
