Beckham out with ankle injury for Giants' opener at Cowboys

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is out for the opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night because of a sprained left ankle.

The fourth-year star hasn't practiced since getting hurt in a preseason game against Cleveland on Aug. 21. He was listed as questionable after stretching with teammates before practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Beckham had a career-best 101 catches for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

He has five career TDs against Dallas, including that famous one-handed catch.

Cowboys running back Darren McFadden was a surprise choice for the inactive list. He had worked as the backup to Ezekiel Elliott throughout the preseason. Undrafted rookie quarterback Cooper Rush was inactive, meaning Kellen Moore is the backup to Dak Prescott.
