Rams claim Dielman, Neary, Jefferson; set practice squad

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Rams claimed defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson and centers J.J. Dielman and Aaron Neary off waivers Sunday, bolstering their questionable depth on both lines.

To create room on its 53-man roster, Los Angeles waived linebacker Nic Grigsby, defensive lineman Louis Trinca-Pasat and tight end John Mundt.

Los Angeles also signed a nine-man practice squad including receiver Paul McRoberts, fullback Sam Rogers, defensive back Isaiah Johnson, linebacker Cassanova McKinzy and tight end Travis Wilson, who was a quarterback at Utah.

Jefferson was a fifth-round pick by Seattle last year, appearing in three games before incurring a season-ending knee injury.

Dielman was a fifth-round pick by Cincinnati this year. He was a three-year starter at Utah, including two seasons as a right tackle.

Neary was on Philadelphia's practice squad last season. He played at Eastern Washington, where he was a teammate of Rams rookie receiver Cooper Kupp.

Los Angeles also placed receiver Nelson Spruce, linebacker Josh Forrest, linebacker Kevin Davis and running back Lenard Tillery on injured reserve after they cleared waivers.
