Man charged in fatal crash makes first court appearance

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - A northern Illinois man involved in a traffic collision last month that killed a pregnant woman and her three small children made his first court appearance since he was arrested this week on felony reckless homicide charges.

During Wednesday's hearing in Joliet, a Will County judge told 25-year-old Sean Woulfe of Beecher that he's charged in the deaths of 29-year-old Lindsey Schmidt of Beecher, her three children and her unborn child. If convicted of the felony counts, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years in prison.

Woulfe was arrested Tuesday, nearly a month after the July 24 collision in Beecher, and remains in custody. The next hearing is scheduled for Friday during which Wolfe's attorney, George Lenard, says he will ask that $1 million bond be reduced.
