A former Northwestern University professor and an Oxford University employee accused of killing a man as part of what prosecutors called a sexual fantasy will have their next court date on Sept. 8 in Chicago.
The Cook County state's attorney's office said Monday that ex-microbiology professor Wyndham Lathem and Andrew Warren would have their preliminary hearing that day. A bond-court judge previously mentioned Tuesday as a possible court date.
The preliminary hearing in two weeks could be another chance for prosecutors to offer more evidence. Both men are charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Lathem's boyfriend, 26-year-old Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau.
A prosecutor said Sunday that Lathem and Warren had communicated online for months about carrying out sexual fantasies by killing someone. The bond court judge ordered the men to remain in jail pending trial.
