Lovelace responds to request to dismiss Quincy lawsuit

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Attorneys for a former Illinois prosecutor acquitted in the 2006 death of his first wife are asking a federal judge not to dismiss counts in a lawsuit he filed seeking damages.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that Curtis Lovelace's attorneys on Friday filed a response to the plaintiff's motion to dismiss the case. The lawsuit names several officers and officials in Adams County and the city of Quincy. It alleges Lovelace was the subject of malicious prosecution and was deprived of his constitutional rights as well as due process in the case.

Attorneys for the city of Quincy last month filed the request to dismiss ten of the lawsuit's 11 counts. But Lovelace's attorneys last week in court papers made specific allegations about each of the defendants and argued his right to sue.
