Chicago Imagists' artwork featured in 'Hairy Who' film
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A film about the Chicago-based school of artists known as the Imagists will complement a current exhibit at the Illinois State Museum .
The award-winning film is called "Hairy Who and the Chicago Imagists." It will be shown at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 in the museum's Thorne Deuel Auditorium.
The Chicago Imagists ' artwork was often featured on Chicago-built pinball machines in the 1960s and '70s. The exhibit "Kings & Queens: Pinball, Imagists and Chicago" continues at the museum until Aug. 19.
The film was produced by Pentimenti Productions . It features more than 40 interviews with artists, critics, curators, collectors and more. The film follows the Imagists as they emerged from Don Baum and the Hyde Park Art Center from 1966-73.
Archival material and contemporary interviews are included.
