Bicyclist killed after falling onto Chicago train tracks

CHICAGO (AP) - Officials say a young man was killed when he fell from his bike onto rail tracks where he was hit by a Chicago Transit Authority train.

The CTA says the person was hit about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the station near Guaranteed Rate Field on the city's South Side. The Cook County medical examiner's office says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

CTA spokesman Brian Steele tells The Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/2t7DM5I ) that the bicyclist apparently lost his balance and fell to the track level.

Service on the CTA's Red Line was disrupted for more than an hour. The identity of the person killed wasn't immediately released.
