The Latest: Plane clips truck at LA airport, 8 injured

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Latest on a collision between a plane and airport utility truck in Los Angeles (all times local):

7:30 p.m.

Police say an Aeromexico plane taxiing toward a gate at Los Angeles International Airport was crossing a service road when it struck a supply truck, causing the vehicle to overturn and resulting in eight injuries.

Airport police Officer Rob Pedregon says the right wing of the Boeing 737 "acted like a hook," lifting the rear top of the high-profile truck and causing it to tip over.

The city Fire Department says two people in the truck were seriously injured and six others had minor injuries.

Airport officials said no one was hurt on the flight from Mexico City carrying 149 passengers and crew.

The truck belonged to G2 Secure Staff, which provides a range of services for airlines and at airports across the country.

4:13 p.m.

Authorities say eight people were injured when an Aeromexico plane collided into an airport utility truck at Los Angeles International Airport.

The Los Angeles Fire Department says Saturday that two people in the truck were seriously injured and six others in the truck suffered minor injuries.

Authorities say no one was hurt on the flight. The Boeing 737 arrived in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon from Mexico City carrying about 146 passengers and crew.

The plane's wing was damaged in the collision.

Airport police say Aeromexico flight 642 was taxiing shortly after landing in Los Angeles when it clipped the truck.

Authorities say an Aeromexico flight clipped an airport utility truck while taxiing after landing at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport police spokesman Rob Pedregon said Saturday the plane clipped the service truck, causing it to overturn.

Pedregon says no one on the plane was injured. He says the airport has continued operations as usual.

Fire officials say as many as six people from the truck were being treated following the collision.

Pedregon says the incident involved Aeromexico flight 642. An internet search shows the flight took off from Mexico City.

Authorities say a plane collided with an airport utility truck shortly after landing at Los Angeles International Airport, injuring as many as six people.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said Saturday that a commercial passenger jet collided with the truck around 2:30 p.m., causing the truck to overturn.

The department says six people from the truck were being treated, including one in critical condition.

Fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey had no additional details.

Messages to the FAA and airport representatives have not been returned.
