Des Plaines Elementary District 62 hires principal for new administration position

Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 has hired a principal to fill a newly created $125,000 administration position.

School board members Monday unanimously approved hiring Victorene "Vicki" King as the director of strategic initiatives and accountability, a position responsible for assessing student data in order to improve learning, according to a Tuesday news release.

King, who's a principal at Woodland Elementary West School in Gages Lake, will start July 1. She is a doctorate student at Western Illinois University.

"Vicki King has had great success as an instructional leader and has a passion for understanding and assessing student data and articulating with principals and staff in order to support student learning and instruction," Superintendent Floyd Williams said in a statement.

King will also be responsible for coordinating professional development for staff and implementing strategic and technology plans.

"As education continues to grow into the evolving demands of the 21st century, it becomes increasingly essential that we prepare our students for jobs, opportunities, and experiences we can't begin to imagine by continuously assessing students' individual and global needs," King said in a statement.

The school board also replaced one of two administrators leaving the district this summer, hiring Adam Denenberg as chief technology officer. He'll be paid $148,000.

Denenberg will replace Jennie Magiera, who announced plans in April to leave the district and work for California-based EdTech Team as the company's chief program officer. Denenberg is the director of information services at Wheeling Township School District 21. He starts July 1.

The second vacancy is occurring because Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Janice Rashid has taken a job as superintendent of River Grove School District 85.5. Her last day with the district is June 30.

Williams wants to hire a replacement during the school board's next meeting June 19, school spokeswoman Jennifer Tempest Bova said. The district is currently conducting interviews with applicants.
