Dold won't seek 4th rematch for Congress with Schneider

CHICAGO (AP) - The battle between Democrat Brad Schneider and Republican Bob Dold over the 10th Congressional District seat has ended.

Dold has decided not to challenge Schneider in 2018. Dold won election to the seat in 2010 but was defeated by Schneider in 2012. Dold again won the office by defeating Schneider in 2014. Schneider took back the seat in 2016.

Dold spokeswoman Danielle Hagen says the former congressman's commitment to public service will continue despite the decision not to run again.

On Tuesday, Highland Park attorney Jeremy Wynes announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to run for the seat.

Wynes describes himself as a social moderate and "fiscally responsible." He said he supports gay marriage and is pro-abortion rights. He adds he would work to overhaul the tax code and reduce regulatory burdens on business.
