Baseball: Geneva thumps Streamwood

Geneva scored 12 runs in the third inning and went on to a 13-3 win over Streamwood Friday in an Upstate Eight River baseball game at Streamwood.

Dominic Guido (2 hits, 2 RBI), Jack Olson (2 RBI), Garrett Bragg (2 hits), Jason Peruba (2B, 2 RBI), Tyler Venditti (2 hits, RBI), Sean Baumgartner (2 RBI) and Cullen Geary (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) led the offense for the Vikings (12-7, 10-4).

Noah Davison started and went 3 innings to earn the win on the mound.

Adam Sojda had 2 hits with a double for Streamwood (9-10, 5-8).

Huntley 10, DeKalb 0: Brad Model, Jeffrey Heinrich (2 RBI) and Noah Konie (3 RBI) each had 2 hits for Huntley (18-4) in this nonconference win. Matt Rodriguez added a double and 2 RBI for the Red Raiders. Ethan Sund went 4 innings and allowed just 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.

Sycamore 2, Kaneland 1: Zach Farris and Robbie Dudzinski had doubles for Kaneland in its Northern Illinois Big XII East loss. Jack Marshall suffered the loss on the mound for the Knights, who slipped to 5-3 in the conference.

Kaneland 10, Westminster Christian 2: The Knights left Sycamore and traveled to Trout Park in Elgin where they won this nonconference game under the lights. Nik Panico had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead Kaneland (12-9) while Kyle Konrad (2 RBI), Luke Gomes (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Robbie Dudzinski (2 hits, 2 RBI), Preston Havis (2 hits), Angel Acevedo (RBI) and Tim Rosko (2 hits, 2B, RBI) also contributed. Brett Glennon picked up the win for the Knights, allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks in 5 innings of work. Theron Dorsey had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for Westminster (10-6).

Harvest Christian 8, St. Edward 1: Grant Young had 2 hits with an RBI while Joey Pepper (RBI) and Jack Nohava (RBI) added doubles for Harvest Christian in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader. Pepper allowed 7 hits to earn the win. Daniel Falco had 2 hits for St. Edward.

Harvest Christian 10, St. Edward 5: in Game 2, Dayne Frederick (2 hits, 3B, 3 RBI), Jack Nohava (2B), Dylan Lockwood (2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Grant Young (2 hits, RBI) led Harvest (19-4) to the win. Reilly Gebhards was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks. Matthew Schimbke had 2 hits for St. Edward (4-19).

Elgin Academy 9, Latin 1: Winning pitcher Jonathan Cruz (4 hits, 6 Ks, 0 BBs) had a 2-run home run as Elgin Academy (13-3, 8-0) remained undefeated in the Independent School League. Ethan Hill (2 hits), Kevin Kuykendall (3 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Ian Wilson (2B) and Ethan Plantz (2B) also contributed for the Hilltoppers.
