Residents in southwestern Indiana town press for grocery

FORT BRANCH, Ind. (AP) - Residents in a southwestern Indiana town that lost its only grocery store to a 2014 fire are pressing local officials to do something to bring a new store to the community.

Fort Branch's sole grocery burned to the ground in November 2014. Holiday Foods owner Russ Winkler tells the Princeton Daily Clarion (http://bit.ly/2pjeLQI ) he's still planning to rebuild in the town about 20 miles north of Evansville but says planning takes time.

The store has received tax abatement incentives for a rebuild. But Fort Branch residents recently urged town council members to do something to speed that along or attract a new store to the town of 3,000 residents.

Town Council President Adam Bledsoe says the council has no say in whether Holiday Foods' owners rebuild or not.
