Illinois men pleads guilty in deadly Missouri crash

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 28-year-old southern Illinois man has admitted to driving drunk and running away after causing a crash that killed a man and injured his girlfriend on New Year's Eve in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2ox5q5Q ) reports that Willie Green of Fairview Heights pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, leaving an accident scene and two counts of armed criminal action. Green had no deal with prosecutors on sentencing and agreed to leave it up to the judge.

Authorities said Green had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system in 2014 when he lost control of his speeding car and ran a red light.

The resulting crash killed 20-year-old Xander Wohlstadter and severely injured the victim's teenage girlfriend. They were coffee shop co-workers.
