Baseball: Addante blasts 2 homers against Hampshire

Jacobs senior Mike Addante drove in 8 runs in Saturday's 19-6 Fox Valley Conference win over Hampshire.

The Nebraska-bound center fielder finished 3-for-3 with 2 home runs - including a grand slam - a triple and 4 runs scored.

Liam Oreskovich went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI, Spencer Foulks was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Cory Dennison, Adam Kale and Daniel Klein each doubled to lead a 15-hit onslaught by Jacobs (11-2, 4-0).

Winning pitcher Brad Demkovich allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 2 walks and struck out 4 in 4 innings. Matt Jachec took the loss for Hampshire (6-8-1, 2-6).

Kaneland 7, Aurora Central Catholic 5: Luke Calabrese hit 2 home runs and drove in 3 runs, Josh Norman went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Joey Brandonisio went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI te lead Kaneland (7-5) in nonconference action. Winning pitcher Josh Pollastrini allowed 5 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks and struck out 3. Hunter Darnell took the loss for Aurora Central (11-3-1) despite his home run and 2 RBI.

Batavia 7, West Aurora 3: Batavia scored 4 runs in the top of the eighth to win an Upstate Eight crossover. Blake Carlson had the go-ahead single and Tyler Munoz followed with a 2-run double. Glenn Albanese (3-for-4, double, 2 runs), Brent Norkus (2-for-3) and Jared Martin (2-for-3, walk) led Batavia (4-4, 3-2). Pitcher Steven Wilson held the Blackhawks to 2 hits and 2 walks in 4 scoreless innings and struck out 5. Dustin Thomas (7 IP, 8 hits, 3 K) took a no-decision for West Aurora (1-11, 1-2)

Burlington Central 7, Barrington 6: Both teams enjoyed 3-run sixth innings but the Rockets managed to prevail in nonconference action. Nick Matijevic (2-for-3, double, 2 RBI), Cade King (2-for-4, double, RBI), Ryan Knowlton (2 RBI) and David Lauber (2-for-4, RBI) paced the offense for Burlington Central (11-2). Dylan Berry (5.1 IP, 4 ER, 4 K) earned the win and Josh Rodriguez notched a 1⅔-inning save. Barrington outhit Central 11-10.

Crystal Lake South 11, Dundee-Crown 8: The Gators improved to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the Fox Valley Conference by collecting 10 hits and taking 8 walks. Griffin Bright (2-for-5, 3 RBI) had the only multihit game for Crystal Lake South, which scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead in a seesaw affair. Sean Jay and Brett Buske each drove in 3 runs for Dundee-Crown (5-7, 2-6).

Cary-Grove 15, Crystal Lake Central 5: Winning pitcher Ryan Ignoffo allowed 4 earned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings, and he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a walk and 3 RBI to lead Cary-Grove (11-3,) in a six-inning Fox Valley Conference tilt. Tyler Pennington (RBI) went 2-for-3 with a triple. RJ Bartlett took the loss for Elgin (2-9,

Glenbard East 6, Elgin 5: The Maroons dropped a 1-run decision to the Rams in an Upstate Eight crossover despite a 2-for-3 performance by Kyle Coates (2 RBI). RJ Bartlett took the loss for Elgin (2-9, 1-4).

Marmion 5, De La Salle 1: Collin Gibson pitched a 3-hitter with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts to lead the Cadets in the Chicago Catholic. Nick Talarico hit a 2-run home run and Zack Lentz doubled and drove in 2 runs for Marmion (6-3).

St. Charles East 13, West Chicago 0: The Saints scored 5 runs in the fourth inning and 6 in the top of the sixth to finish off an Upstate Eight crossover. Justin Galante went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI and 10 Saints had a hit. Josh Soderstrom pitched 4 scoreless innings and allowed only 2 hits and a walk. He struck out 4 for St. Charles East (9-4, 4-1).

Geneva 8, Bartlett 6: The Vikings scored 5 times in the third inning, keyed by a grand slam from Dylan Baer, and held on to win an Upstate Eight crossover. Jack Olson hit a sol home run and Dominic Guido went 3-for-4 with a double to lead Geneva (7-5, 4-2). Winning pitcher Noah Davison surrendered just 1 hit in 3 scoreless innings and Niko DeLeo picked up a 1⅔-inning save. Ryan Temesvary took the loss for Bartlett (4-5, 0-2).

Streamwood 6, East Aurora 2: Colin Caminitti scattered 6 hits and struck out 9 Tomcats in 7 innings without issuing a walk to earn the win in an Upstate Eight crossover. Adam Sojda went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and 2 RBI and Dominic Robles doubled and drove in 2 runs for Streamwood (5-6, 2-4).

Woodstock 10, St. Edward 0: Daniel Falco and Jack Olson had the only singles for St. Edward (1-11) in this nonconference loss.

Westminster Christian 4, Rockford Christian Life 1: Junior Nathen Martinez pitched a 2-hitter with 14 strikeouts and Killian Vasica, JT Stoll and Tyler Schoeman drove in runs to lead Westminster Christian (5-2, 2-0) in the Northeastern Athletic.

Aurora Christian 12, Alden-Hebron 3: Robert Lewis homered and drove in 2 runs and Sam Tickel went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead the Eagles (3-4, 1-1) in the Northeastern Athletic. Winning pitcher Jake Kuntzendorf struck out 12 batters and allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits and a walk in 5 innings.

Elgin Academy 10-12, Francis W. Parker 8-5: The Hilltoppers swept an Independent School League doubleheader at Trout Park. Ian Wilson had 2 of Elgin Academy's 5 doubles in a 10-8 victory in Game 1. In Game 2, Elgin Academy (7-1, 5-0) exploded for 18 hits, 7 for extra bases. Ian Wilson went 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI, Andrew Wilson went 4-for-5 with a double and 4 RBI and Jonathan Cruz struck out 12 in 6 innings to earn the win.
