Remind GOP Congress they work for us

Who benefits when our president persists in denigrating our election process, our judicial system, our intelligence community and our nation's media?

What happens when the U.S. shrinks from its leadership role?

What is the effect of Trump's lack of respect and support for our allies and his dismissive attitude toward Russia's interference in our elections?

Authoritarian regimes have been emboldened to show off their power - North Korea, Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey have increased aggressive activities toward their adversaries and neighbors and have stepped up repression of their own people. China's economic power is growing. Israel has dramatically increased their building of illegal settlements. ISIS, feeling empowered and thumbing their noses at the U.S., has declared our country is run by an idiot.

In the United States hate crimes against Jewish and Muslim places of worship have increased. Attempted travel bans have damaged our tourism industry. White nationalists believe their time has come with Bannon's influence in the White House.

How will it make America stronger to roll back protective financial and environmental regulations, to deny essential health care benefits for millions, to cut taxes for the wealthy, to reduce funding for social services to pay for a border wall, to abandon international agreements and shirk our moral obligations?

The Republican standard-bearer has spent his first months in office touting television shows, tweeting insults, blaming others for his failures and promoting his golf courses while he leaves our country in the hands of his son-in-law, a cabinet filled with unqualified billionaires.

We constituents must speak out and remind our Republican Congressional representatives that they work for us and should be working on issues which will benefit the American people, uphold our nation's principles and keep our country healthy and secure.
