Five Crystal Lake businesses, including The Olive Tap, open this spring

Kicking off the 2017 spring openings is the Olive Tap in downtown Crystal Lake at 68 N. Williams St. with its grand re-opening celebration from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 21. Come out and sample new products, wine, and local cheese, and take advantage of special raffles and promotions including 15 percent off products during this special event.

Husband-and-wife team Brett and Kristie Rainwater are no strangers to small business ownership and have over 40 years experience in the restaurant industry. Recently, they decided to follow their passion and immerse themselves in selling the products that they love with the opening of their first Olive Tap location in Crystal Lake.

The Olive Tap is a tasting emporium that prides itself on freshness, purity, distinctive flavors of the finest oils and vinegars from award-winning artisans. The couple are devoted to providing great customer service, personalized attention and helping teach about the benefits of good quality products and pure olive oil. The Olive Tap features a wide variety of gourmet olive oils, balsamic vinegars and other artisan products sourced from premium producers from across the globe.

Customers can sample oils and vinegars from large stainless steel urns. Each urn is placed alongside others allowing customers to compare and sample various flavored olive oils, vinegar, and balsamic vinegar products to ensure they find the one that is right for them. The Olive Tap still has many of the same great products previously offered including soaps and lotions, along with hundreds of new items that have been added including wines, olives, crackers, locally sourced cheeses, meats and tapenades. It is now the go to place to stock up for that special cocktail party and social event or to find a perfect gift for any occasion.

As spring gets into full swing, Bucky's Gas Station will open by the end of this month, featuring a 10,000-square-foot store for one-stop convenience, at the intersection of Pyott and Rakow roads.

The M Supper Club will be opening its doors the first week of May at 394 W. Virginia St., adding another fine dining establishment to the area.

Other businesses opening later this spring are Matt's Express Car Wash, offering a top-of-the-line car wash at a reasonable price, in front of Wal-Mart on Route 31, and Breaking Bread, a gourmet sandwich shop in the Country Corners Shopping Center located at 250 W. Virginia St.
