Ferrara Candy Company celebrates grand re-opening of candy store

Ferrara Candy Company, headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, and best known for such iconic brands as Lemonhead, Red Hots, Brach's, Now + Later and Trolli, yesterday celebrated the grand re-opening of its candy store, located at 7301 Harrison St. in the Company's Forest Park facility.

The Ferrara Candy Store takes freshly made and packaged candy from its local factories and sells it to candy lovers throughout the Chicagoland area.

ocal Forest Park commissioners, school children and Ferrara executives were in attendance to commemorate the re-opening and to announce the Company's inaugural employee scholarship program, which will provide 10 $5,000 scholarships for children of Ferrara Candy Company employees.

The renovations expanded the space to make room for even more Ferrara fan favorites, but the original murals on the inside walls, painted 30 years ago, have been preserved. This shop is chock full of fresh-off-of-the-line Ferrara candies, but it has more in store than sweet treats: proceeds from the store will be supporting the Ferrara USA Scholarship Program, open to children of all Ferrara employees below VP level.

"This is a big day for all of us here at Ferrara," said Tom Polke, President and Chief Financial Officer at Ferrara Candy Company. "This is an opportunity for us to not only give back to the community for their years of dedication to the store, but also to our employees through the Ferrara USA Scholarship Program funded by candy store proceeds. We're a tight-knit family and we're thrilled to do our part to help the next generation continue their educations."

Ferrara is committed to being a good neighbor to the communities in which its factories are located, and with most of its employees coming from within those communities, Ferrara has created this scholarship program in support of talented youth in its hometowns.

The Ferrara USA Scholarship Program will provide scholarships based on merit to children of Ferrara employees who are pursuing higher education. Within the upcoming weeks, Ferrara will be announcing the ten students who will each receive a $5,000 scholarship towards their pursuit of post-secondary education.

The Ferrara Candy Company Store is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays.
