Glenbard educators earn Distinguished Service Award

Glenbard District 87's minority student achievement coordinators have earned an Award of Excellence in the 2017 Distinguished Service Awards Program sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA). The INSPRA Distinguished Service Awards recognize people who work tirelessly to support public education.

Congratulations to award recipients Carla Wood from Glenbard East High School, Susanna Melón from Glenbard North High School, Michael White from Glenbard South High School and Sharon Ruff from Glenbard West High School. They will be honored during a May 5 awards ceremony.

Through partnerships, leadership and significant investment of time, Glenbard District 87's minority student achievement coordinators are making a meaningful difference in the lives of students who are minorities. They are engaging students and families in workshops, college visits, professional days and much more. These coordinators, who are also high school deans, also play a key role in student outreach as Glenbard works to have more underrepresented students enroll in Advanced Placement classes.

Glenbard's minority student achievement coordinators challenge, inspire and empower students who are black and Hispanic. They continually partner with business professionals, representatives from community colleges and 4-year colleges and parents to provide students with opportunities that change the trajectory of their lives.
