College of DuPage to Host Crime Scene Investigation Summer Academy

The Continuing Education program and the Homeland Security Training Institute at College of DuPage are offering a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Academy on Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Homeland Security Education Center, Room 1008, on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Open to students entering grades nine through 12, this class will examine cutting-edge techniques, career paths, the impact of modern technology in forensic science, and the role of a forensic scientist in real-life cases. Participants will work in state-of-the-art facilities and participate in several hands-on activities, including blood stain pattern analysis, field sketching, fingerprinting and casting plastic fingerprints, a home invasion simulation and impression evidence.

The class will be led by certified Crime Scene Investigator and detective with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office Forensic Investigations Unit Donald Comstock. He is a member of the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force/Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT/DuPage) and the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Task Force (DUCART).
