Girls soccer: Geneva notches 8th shutout

The Geneva girls soccer team stayed hot in Upstate Eight crossover action, defeating Bartlett 2-0 to post a 9-0 record and their eighth shutout of the season.

The duo of Stephanie Howe and Jenna Dominguez led the way as Howe scored both goals while Dominguez delivered both assists. Goalkeeper Emma Harkleroad posted 6 saves. The Hawks, despite 1 save from Nykia Wetterman and Teagan Noesen's 2 saves, fell to 4-5-1.

St. Charles North 6, South Elgin 0: The North Stars (5-0-1) stayed undefeated thanks to Sarah Andrey's 2 goals and Gia Wahlberg's 1 goal, 2 assist output in UEC crossover action. Hailey Rydberg and Madison Kauffman also added goals while Lauren Neslund dished 2 assists. C.C. Wahlberg also had 1 assist and both Sami Sample and Leanne Stahulak each had a save in North's third shutout of the year.

St. Charles East 8, Larkin 0: After an 0-1-2 weekend, the Saints (5-1-3, 2-0) bounced back in a big way during an Upstate River win over the Royals (7-3, 0-2). East stopped Larkin's 7-game win streak with a big dose of Rose Stackhouse, who had a had trick. Chantel Carranza followed with 2 goals while Hannah Kolb (2 assists), Megan O'Neal (1 assist) and Katilyn Dubinski added goals as well. Claire Ramusseen, Renee Unterberg and Allison Strauss also notched assists.

Burlington Central 10, Harvard 0: The Rockets (7-1-1, 3-0) kicked into high gear destroying the Hornets in Kishwaukee River action. Megan Majewski topped the stat sheet with 2 goals and 2 assists while Jessica Clouser booted 2 goals. Anna McMahon and keeper Erin Rafferty tallied 1 goal and 1 assist along while Jordan King, Alexis Rosa and Zoey Kollhoff also added goals. Elizabeth Gousios and Kirsten Wyse had assists and Abbi Ciganek had 1 save in net to go with her 1 goal scored.

Westminster Christian 3, Harvest Christian 0: In Northeastern Athletic play, the Warriors grabbed a win over rival Harvest (3-3-1, 2-1) thanks to Lexi Kuhlmann, who had 1 goal and 1 assist. Anna DeHaan also scored for Westminster, who saw Katrina Grasemann grab an assist and keeper Grace Bickford make 6 saves for the shutout.

ACC 1, Fenton 0: A second half goal by Shannon LoPresti gave the Chargers (3-1, 1-1) a Metro Suburban win. Gina Cortino had 1 assist and keeper Alex Montalbano posted her third shutout of the year with 11 saves and 1 PK stop.

CL South 2, Grayslake North 1: Courntey Sengstock and Taylor Bittenbender's first half goals were enough for the Gators (5-0-1) in a Fox Valley Conference crossover win to keep CLS unblemished. Goalie Annika Sevick managed 5 saves.
