Music notes: DMX packing the party at BaseCamp

Up in here, up in here

DMX, the hard-core rapper who won the American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop-Artist in 2000 and 2001, is still a commercial powerhouse. He brings his hits, including his most notable “Party Up (Up In Here)” and “Ruff Ryders Anthem,” to BaseCamp Pub Friday, April 14, for an Afterlife ALT premium event. BaseCamp Pub, 5750 Lakeside Drive, Lisle. $35. (331) 777-4712 or basecamppub.com. 7 p.m. Friday, April 14

Walking in ... Chicago

If Marc Cohn's Grammy-winning love letter “Walking in Memphis” doesn't pop into your head every time you think about Tennessee's River City, you clearly didn't listen to enough radio in the early '90s. He brings that hit and his whole catalog to City Winery, one of Chicago's classiest places to catch a live show, for two nights Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15. Americana singer Clarence Bucaro joins him both nights. City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St., Chicago. $40-$55; Saturday is sold out, but there is a waiting list for tickets. (312) 733-9463 or citywinery.com. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15

Lucky Boys Confusion releases the band's first album in nearly 10 years at House of Blues Saturday, April 15.

Addicted to the city lights

Twenty years in, the boys of Lucky Boys Confusion aren't boys anymore - the house parties are quieter, the memories from the corner of 53 and Ogden are faded and a world-weary maturity has set in. But the music is still a blast. The band's newest album “Stormchasers” has already drawn tremendous local buzz from its two recent singles, “It's After Midnight” and “Sun In My Eyes.” The guys from DuPage are celebrating the album release - their first in nearly 10 years - at a sold-out show at the House of Blues Saturday, April 15; that's only the first of what promises to be a busy summer of performances for LBC, so keep your eyes open. House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St., Chicago. Sold out, but if you try, you can find a few tickets available from secondary sources. (312) 923-2000 or houseofblues.com. 8 p.m. (doors at open at 6:30) Saturday, April 15
