Tree of Life rummage sale returns to spring

The annual Rummage Sale at Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry, will return to spring dates this year after being moved to late summer in 2016. The sale will open on Thursday, April 14 through Saturday, April 16.

Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. On Saturday, remaining clothing will be $2 a bag and the sale will even provide the bags. Everything else will be half price.

The rummage sale has been rated as one of the best in McHenry County for quality and variety of merchandise, organization, and price.

"What sets our sale apart is the quality of the offerings and the well organized and accessible display of merchandise," according to Judy Stettner, the congregation's official Rummage Sale Queen. "Our clothing is like new or gently used, clean, and clearly sized. Electronics and household gadgets work. Everything is clean and we have an unusually good selection of furniture, larger items, home décor, art, and even jewelry. Unitarians Universalists are notorious readers and music lovers so our books musical selections are first rate."

Proceeds support the ministry of the congregation and 10 percent goes directly to Compassion for Campers which provides lunch, companionship and needed supplies to our homeless neighbors every Monday throughout the spring, summer and fall in McHenry County.
