No injuries in North Barrington house fire

No injuries were reported in a fire at a North Barrington home late Thursday, officials said.

The Wauconda Fire Protection District was called to Wynstone Drive in North Barrington at 11:42 p.m. Thursday for an open burn behind homes, officials said.

Three minutes later, Wynstone security reported heavy flames showing from a home at nearby Greystone Lane.

The first arriving firefighters saw heavy fire showing through the roof of the two-story, single-family home.

Officials said a neighbor indicated residents of the home on fire were away on vacation and the house was free of pets, authorities said.

Due to the volume of fire, several neighboring homes were evacuated, authorities said. Residents were returned to their homes within one hour.

The fire was brought under control by 12:30 a.m., but crews were at the scene until 3:30 a.m. extinguishing hidden fire around the structure.

One neighboring home sustained minor damage in the blaze, authorities said. Residents were not displaced due to the damage, officials said.

The fire remains under investigation and fire investigators remain on scene, officials said.

The Wauconda Fire Protection District was assisted by firefighters from Lake Zurich, Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Barrington Countryside, Cary, Fox River Grove, Nunda, Lake Villa and Grayslake fire departments.

Assistance was also received by Lake Zurich Dispatch, CENCOM MABAS Division 4 Dispatch, Lake County Sheriff's Police, the MESS Canteen and Wynstone Public Safety.
