Annual Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival returns Sunday

The 18th annual Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival will delight the eyes, excite the ears, and inspire the heart to experience the arts.

The Kaneland Arts Initiative will present the Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 9, on the campus of Kaneland High School, 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park.

This year's highlights are more than 500 pieces of Kaneland student artwork, a hands-on prekindergarten art area for children up to age 5, an art auction of student and professional artwork and henna hand tattoos.

Performers include the Misty River Music Makers, Kaneland Youth Orchestra, NIU School of Theatre and Dance, Fox Valley Festival Chorus, Ann Stewart & the Banjo Buddies Dixieland Trio, and the Improvised Shakespeare Company.

The Improvised Shakespeare Company is a critically-acclaimed comedy show that creates a performance based on audience suggestion of a title.

This event is free with ample parking and appropriate for all ages. Food is available for purchase and the professional artists will have artwork for sale. For details, visit the Kaneland Arts Initiative's website at www.kanelandartsinitiative.org.
