Sears Centre to host Midlands Wrestling Championships

With Northwestern shutting down Welsh-Ryan Arena as it undergoes extensive renovations, the prestigious Midlands Championship for wrestling will move to Sears Centre Arena this winter.

The 2017 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships will be held Dec. 29-30 at the Hoffman Estates arena, NU officials announced Wednesday.

Last year, 71 ranked wrestlers competed in the two-day tournament, with the Iowa Hawkeyes capturing three individual titles and finish first with a team total of 150.5 points. Iowa was followed by Nebraska (135.5), Arizona State (106.5), Rutgers (93), Illinois (83), and North Carolina State (78).

Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
