Two former COD students face armed robbery charges
Bond was set Wednesday for the second of two Glen Ellyn men, both now former students at the College of DuPage, who are accused of robbing a female student at gunpoint last fall in a COD parking lot.
DuPage County Judge Richard Russo kept bond at $300,000 for Deandre Ford, 19, of the 300 block of Spruce Lane. Russo had set a $250,000 bond in February for the second suspect, Javon Burruss, also 19 and of the same address.
Both men face charges of armed robbery, aggravated robbery and robbery in connection with the case.
Authorities say the two men approached their victim around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2016, when she was alone in the parking lot. They say Burruss displayed a weapon that later was determined to be a BB gun and the two men stole the woman's purse and backpack before fleeing.
An investigation by the College of DuPage and Wheaton police departments led authorities to Burruss and Ford. Burruss was apprehended on Feb. 10. Ford was apprehended last month by authorities in Texas and brought to DuPage County on April 4.
Ford's next court appearance is scheduled for May 1 in front of Judge Robert Miller. Burruss' next court appearance is scheduled for April 13 in front of Judge Brian Telander.
